Peru’s state-owned shipyard, Servicios Industriales de la Marina (SIMA), is poised to commence the construction of a new frigate for the Peruvian Navy by the end of 2025. This development is part of a broader effort to enhance the naval capabilities of the country.
Frigate Construction Timeline
- Technical Studies: Currently, SIMA is conducting a technical assessment for the frigate. The spokesperson confirmed that construction is anticipated to kick off by December, contingent upon the successful completion and approval of this study.
- Initial Activities: The commencement of construction will involve the initial steel-cutting process and the assembly of various modules integral to the vessel’s structure.
Ongoing Projects
In addition to the frigate, SIMA is actively advancing multiple maritime projects:
