Netherlands Chooses Oshkosh Defense for Dutch JLTV Production

Oshkosh Defense to Supply Dutch Expeditionary Patrol Vehicles

Oshkosh, WI, April 24, 2025 – In a significant development for military mobility and defense collaboration, Oshkosh Defense Europe B.V., in conjunction with Oshkosh Defense, LLC—a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation [NYSE: OSK]—has secured a contract from the Netherlands Ministry of Defence. This partnership will see the production of 150 Dutch Expeditionary Patrol Vehicles (DXPV), a specialized variant of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) designed to meet the demands of the Future Littoral All Terrain Mobility – Patrol Vehicle (FLATM-PV) initiative.

The Importance of the DXPV

The Dutch Expeditionary Patrol Vehicle (DXPV) represents a cutting-edge leap in light military vehicle technology. Aimed explicitly at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps, the DXPV promises unparalleled off-road mobility. “Oshkosh is honored that the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps has chosen to equip its formations with the Oshkosh DXPV,” stated Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer at Oshkosh Defense. This endorsement reflects the vehicle’s strategic importance in modern military operations.

Next-Generation Features

What sets the DXPV apart is its commitment to next-generation levels of mobility, speed, and transportability. Military operations today require vehicles that can navigate various terrains while maintaining speed and efficiency. The DXPV not only fulfills these requirements but does so with a focus on seamless interoperability with NATO allies. This feature ensures that the Netherlands can integrate effectively into joint missions, sharing resources and strategies with partner nations.

Logistics and Interoperability Benefits

One of the standout advantages of the DXPV is its commonality with the approximately 22,000 JLTVs that have already been delivered to the U.S. Department of Defense. In addition, over 1,600 JLTVs have been produced for other NATO and allied countries. This high degree of commonality significantly reduces the logistics footprint necessary for support and maintenance.

Williams elaborated, “This commonality not only enhances system performance and operational readiness but also fosters interoperability among allied nations.” Such benefits enable military operations to run more smoothly, streamline training processes, and simplify vehicle integration into existing fleets.

OEM Status and Global Partnerships

Oshkosh Defense stands out as the only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) capable of supplying the JLTV directly to allied countries. The new contract with the Netherlands cements its role in building a coalition of nations that utilize the Oshkosh platform. With this decision, the Netherlands joins an elite roster of countries, including the United States, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Israel, among others.

Future Implications for Defense Collaboration

The integration of the DXPV into the Dutch military framework is likely to enhance not only the country’s defense capabilities but also its strategic partnerships within NATO. As global military operations become increasingly collaborative, the significance of how nations equip their forces cannot be overstated.

The Oshkosh DXPV stands as a testament to innovative military engineering, designed to meet the complex and evolving needs of modern warfare. As it rolls off the production line, it is poised to make a pronounced impact on battlefield effectiveness and operational synergy among allied forces.
