The Baltic region, in particular, has been subjected to frequent electronic warfare threats, with heightened jamming activities reported from Russia and the Kaliningrad area.

Advantages of Laser Communication

Astrolight’s POLARIS laser terminals offer several key advantages over traditional RF systems:

  • Resilience Against Jamming: Laser communications are impervious to conventional electronic warfare disruptions.
  • Superior Data Transmission Rates: POLARIS can achieve data transfer speeds up to 100 times faster than RF.
  • Reliability in Adverse Conditions: The system has proven effective in challenging weather environments, encompassing fog, rain, and wind.

“We have ensured that POLARIS is compact and straightforward to deploy, suitable for various military units and operations across land, sea, air, and space.”

Earlier this year, Astrolight also successfully tested POLARIS for maritime communications during exercises organized by the Portuguese Navy and NATO, alongside the Lithuanian Navy.

DiBaX, coordinated by NATO Allied Command Transformation and the Latvian Ministry of Defence and jointly hosted by Latvian Mobile Telephone, provided a vital testbed for advanced communication technologies amidst the evolving security landscape.
