Milrem Robotics Unveils Havoc: A Next-Generation Combat UGV
Milrem Robotics has introduced its latest innovation, the Havoc 8×8 combat unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), marking a significant milestone as the largest wheeled combat vehicle produced by the Estonian-based Edge Group subsidiary.
About the Havoc
The Havoc is designed as Milrem’s inaugural large wheeled combat platform, equipped to carry a range of remote weapon stations (RWS). This versatility is complemented by the integrated Milrem Intelligent Function Integration Kit (MIFIK), which provides advanced communication capabilities comparable to existing military vehicles.
Autonomous Features
This UGV is outfitted with an extensive array of sensors and electro-optical devices, including:
- Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR)
- Day and Night Cameras
- Thermal Imaging Systems
These technological components enhance the vehicle’s situational awareness and operational effectiveness. Milrem’s representative indicated that the autonomous driving capabilities are powered by artificial intelligence, facilitating responsive navigation in complex environments.
Armament and Operational Range
During its unveiling at DSEI 2025, the Havoc was demonstrated with various armaments, including:
- A 12.7 mm machine gun
- Frankenburg missiles
The platform is adaptable, capable of accommodating larger caliber weaponry depending on mission requirements. According to Patrick Shepherd, Milrem Robotics’ Chief Sales Officer, the Havoc’s powertrain allows for extended operational capabilities, enabling continuous deployment for up to 15 hours. This endurance translates to operational ranges exceeding 600 km off-road and up to 1,000 km on-road, making it well-suited for diverse mission scenarios.
Conclusion
The introduction of the Havoc by Milrem Robotics symbolizes a leap forward in unmanned combat vehicle technology, merging advanced autonomy with robust combat capabilities. As defense organizations assess the evolving landscape of unmanned systems, the Havoc stands out as a formidable contender in modern military operations.
