L3Harris Introduces DiSCO ISR Software for Shadow Fox USV

L3Harris Technologies Showcases Advanced USV Capabilities at DSEI 2025

At the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2025 exhibition in London, L3Harris Technologies unveiled its innovative Distributed Spectrum Collaboration and Operations (DiSCO) architecture, integrated into the Shadow Fox unmanned surface vehicle (USV).

DiSCO Architecture: Enhancing ISR and Situational Awareness

DiSCO represents a pivotal advancement in managing the complexities of a modern combat environment, characterized by a proliferation of distributed sensors, autonomous platforms, and adversaries prioritizing digital operations. This system consolidates communication and radar data into a nearly instantaneous common operating picture, empowering users to enhance their intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) functions.

Robert Raymond, L3Harris’ director of Business Development, articulated the strategic importance of this technology: “Navigating the electromagnetic spectrum rapidly and on a large scale is a task beyond the capacity of any human team. DiSCO was developed to be the connective framework that unifies data from diverse platforms and sensors, facilitating efficient data movement across networks and delivering crucial insights to commanders.”

Scalable Ecosystem for Battle Management

DiSCO offers a scalable, software-defined ecosystem that prioritizes and synthesizes data, significantly minimizing bandwidth consumption while yielding actionable intelligence. In environments where information may be congested or contested, DiSCO ensures that essential data reaches decision-makers promptly, thereby enhancing operational effectiveness.

Key Features:

  • Remote Access: “Whether you’re aboard a vessel, stationed ashore, or located thousands of miles away, secure cloud connectivity grants access and control over DiSCO,” Raymond noted.
  • Resilience in Denial Scenarios: In instances where connectivity is disrupted, the edge-processing capabilities of DiSCO allow local battle management to persist, safeguarding mission continuity.

Shadow Fox USV Specifications

The Shadow Fox USV, introduced in 2018, measures 13 meters and boasts impressive speed capabilities, exceeding 40 knots in its light configuration, as confirmed by a company representative.

This showcase at DSEI 2025 underscores L3Harris’ commitment to equipping military and defense professionals with cutting-edge technology to navigate the complexities of contemporary warfare.
