Advancements in Unmanned Systems: Highlights from Korean Air’s Showcase
At the recent Seoul exhibition, Korean Air presented a wide array of unmanned systems, significantly broadening its military aviation offerings. Among the noteworthy innovations revealed were the Low Observable Wingman UAV System (LOWUS), the KUS-FX, and two variants of Loitering Munitions.
Expanding Military Aviation Capabilities
Korean Air, recognized primarily as South Korea’s largest airline, is diversifying its portfolio by venturing into aircraft manufacturing and military aviation, particularly focusing on unmanned systems. During the ADEX 2023 event, the company showcased several developmental UAVs and UCAVs, with the 2025 edition in Seoul introducing new airframes that fortify this growing expertise.

Future Developments
Korean Air continues to expand its unmanned systems capabilities. The company has plans for additional variants, including the next iteration of the LOWUS, which aims to incorporate an afterburner and offer carrier compatibility. The KUS-VS, inspired by the Aerovironment Jump 20, is under development with enhanced specifications for an elevated operational threshold.
