Overview of the X-Wing Loitering Munition System
Lithuania-based Granta Autonomy has introduced its X-Wing loitering munition system, designed explicitly for precision strike operations. This development was announced in a press release dated 18 September.
System Design and Capabilities
The X-Wing integrates a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) design with the attributes of a fixed-wing unmanned aerial system (UAS). According to Gediminas Guoba, CEO of Granta, the system does not require launch infrastructure and allows multiple units to be deployed simultaneously.

- Payload: Equipped with a 4 kg hybrid warhead capable of penetrating heavily armored targets
- Targeting Technology: Incorporates an AI-driven targeting system that aids in identifying and engaging even well-camouflaged positions
Sensor and Engagement Options
The X-Wing is outfitted with an advanced gimbal system housing a camera that can track targets from over 2 kilometers away. Notably, it features thermal imaging capabilities, enhancing its operational effectiveness during nighttime missions.
Performance Under Challenging Conditions
The loitering munition is designed to operate in global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-denied environments. Guoba confirmed that rigorous testing was conducted in Ukraine during Spring 2025, in collaboration with the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Production Plans
Granta Autonomy aims to manufacture 1,000 units of the X-Wing each month by mid-2026 at its facility in Lithuania. Initial deliveries are anticipated to commence before the close of 2025.
