The DoD recognizes a significant deficiency in its geosynchronous orbit (GEO) satellite capabilities, particularly concerning the lack of assets capable of high-resolution imagery for both friendly and adversarial satellites. This inadequacy compromises the U.S. ability to maintain custody over these important objects, which is vital for national security, intelligence gathering, and operational planning.
