The Navio de Apoio Logístico (NApLog) initiative is spearheaded by the General Directorate of Navy Materiel. This effort aligns with the broader objectives of the Modernization of Naval Power Strategic Program and the Navy Strategic Plan 2040.

  • Objective: To procure a total of two logistical support ships by the year 2033.
  • Budget: The projected cost for this endeavor is BRL 1.2 billion (approximately USD 219.8 million), allocated for the Surface Force Command.

    • Procurement Period: 2026-2027
    • Estimated Cost: BRL 600 million

    • Procurement Period: 2028-2033

The envisioned support vessels will possess the following specifications:

  • Crew Complement: Approximately 130 personnel
  • Operational Endurance: 35 days
  • Range: 12,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 14 knots
  • Maximum Speed: 20 knots
  • Draught: 7.6 meters

The ships will be equipped to handle significant logistical needs, including:

  • Fuel Capacity:
    • 300 m³ of JP-5 military jet fuel
    • 12,000 m³ of marine diesel oil or F-46 military fuel
  • Fresh Water: 2,700 liters
  • Container Capacity: Space for four containers

Operational Versatility

The NApLog vessels are designed to undertake a variety of missions, including:

  • Disaster Relief
  • Search and Rescue (SAR) Operations
  • Humanitarian Assistance

In addition, they will facilitate:

  • Medical Support
  • Transportation of Vehicles and Supplies: This includes maritime and aviation fuel, fresh water, ammunition, lubricating oils, food supplies, and spare parts.

Aviation Capabilities

To enhance their operational scope, the ships will feature:

  • A landing platform for helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
  • An onboard hangar for aviation operations
