Advancements in Multidomain Training: 4C Strategies’ Exonaut Software Showcase
Introduction to Exonaut
4C Strategies is significantly enhancing the role of its Exonaut exercise planning and management software, with a focus on simulation applications. This initiative was highlighted through a series of integrated demonstrations at the 2025 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC 25) conducted in Orlando from December 1 to 4.
Objective of the Demonstrations
The primary goal of the demonstrations was to illustrate the seamless integration of multidomain training via open standards, data sharing, and interconnected technologies. The showcases aimed to emphasize Exonaut’s potential as a “digital backbone for federated training,” a crucial component for modern military exercises.
Collaborative Partners
These demonstrations were a collaborative effort involving several key partners:
- Masa: Renowned for its Sword constructive simulation tool.
- Plexsys: Known for producing the Advanced Simulation Combat Operations Trainer (ASCOT 7), which generates multidomain synthetic environments.
- OneArc: A subsidiary of BAE Systems, integrating technologies from Bohemia Interactive Systems and Pitch to deliver Virtual Battle Space 4 (VBS4) alongside their pRTI system.
- SimCentric: Offers the SAF-Foresight range safety software and the SAF-Fires application for indirect fire training.
- Ravenswood: Specialized in live tactical engagement simulation systems (TESS).
- Ansett: Provides advanced flight simulation technologies.
Demonstration Workflow
The demonstration process initiates prior to the activation of any simulation. Utilizing Exonaut’s artificial intelligence (AI) studio, planners are enabled to:
- Define training objectives.
- Map operational entities.
- Execute main event list/main incident list (MEL/MIL) events, employing intelligent Subject-Matter Expert (SME) agents.
AI in Training Planning
The AI tools within Exonaut leverage contextual understanding and historical data to autonomously populate training scenarios. This automation streamlines the scenario development process, making it more efficient and responsive to training needs.
Data Sharing and Integration
Subsequent to scenario generation, the tasking and scenario data are disseminated to partner systems. This can occur directly or through Pitch’s pRTI, ensuring that all federated simulations maintain a unified training context and aligned mission objectives.
Safety and Compliance Measures
Before the initiation of any exercise, SAF-Foresight is employed to validate exercise designs. This includes:
- Verification of safety arcs.
- Assessment of range configurations.
- Compliance with environmental constraints to ensure a safe training environment.
Conclusion
Through this initiative, 4C Strategies is taking substantial steps to advance the integration of multidomain training. The deployment of Exonaut, along with contributions from various partners, represents a significant evolution in how military exercises are planned, managed, and executed, ensuring they meet the complexities of modern warfare.
By providing a robust framework for interconnected training environments, the demonstration at I/ITSEC 25 reinforces the importance of innovation in defense readiness and capability development.
